The Mon Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that DeRienzo Family Practice has been chosen to be in the August Member Spotlight. The late Dr. Umberto DeRienzo Sr. practiced for 30 years at his office on Lincoln Avenue in North Charleroi, where he treated thousands of patients before his retirement in 1996. “Dad always exemplified the true meaning of a family physician,” son Umberto Jr. said at the one year anniversary of the opening of their new location at the Vista One Professional Building in 2001. “He was a man who not only healed bodies, but also healed hearts.”
Following in his dad’s footsteps, Umberto, Jr., has continued to grow the medical practice by offering compassionate and skilled care to families in the Mon Valley and serves on the staff at Monongahela Valley Hospital. He was educated at Temple University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Washington Hospital. He was recently honored by Albert Gallatin Home Care and Hospice as its Pennsylvania Region Hospice Physician of the Year. “Dr. DeRienzo shows great compassion toward his terminally ill patients and has keen insight regarding the Hospice program,” said nominating nurse Jill Dunsten.
Umberto is joined by his colleagues: Rhonda Wingrove, MD, Eric Ardinger, DO, Janet Stevenson, OM, Cindy Milton, LPN, Renee Moore, MA, Sheila Balog, RN, Amy Clark, Sec., Kristy Gregory, Computer Data, and Darlene Cooper, Rec.
A member of the Chamber for a continuous 41 years, DeRienzo Family Practice supports local organizations and community projects. “We are so proud to have a professional organization of this caliber connected to our Chamber, and Valley residents are fortunate to have access to this level of care,” said Deb Keefer, Chamber Director.
Dr. DeRienzo, Jr. resides with his wife Phyllis and two daughters, Julia and Nina in Peters Township.
