MarBill Diamonds and Jewelry has evolved over the more than 50 years the Horrell family has been in business in the Mon Valley. It’s a third generation retail jewelry store that the Horrell family has owned and operated since 1964. Marbill was originally established as a catalog showroom on Broad Avenue in North Belle Vernon. Bill Horrell Sr, an engineer with Monessen Southwestern Railroad, and his wife Ann opened the store and named it Marbill after their two children Margaret and Bill. In 1999, the company changed their business model and began focusing strictly on diamonds and jewelry.

After graduating from California University of PA, Bill Jr decided to stay with the family business. He began taking extension classes through the Gemological Institute of America, studying diamonds and gems. Marbill is currently owned by Bill Jr & Linda Horrell(Graduate Gemologist), along with their son Michael(Graduate Jeweler). This family prides themselves on education and knowledge; staying abreast of all of the changes in the jewelry industry as well as having the accurate and truthful information their clients are seeking. By doing such they have built a strong trust and reputation with their clientele.

Having a Graduate Gemologist and a Graduate Jeweler on staff is a benefit that many Jewelry stores cannot offer. An onsite repair center assures clients that there items are safe and secure, not having to leave the premises, making it possible to have a one week turnaround for most jobs. An express service is also offered for those who can’t wait.

Looking for a more personal touch by designing your own engagement ring or a one of a kind piece of jewelry? Marbill offers a computer aided design software to help clients bring their vision to life. All custom work is done in house by Michael Horrell and staff. So whether getting engaged or having your grandmother’s ring restored, just spending a few minutes with Linda and Michael you will be enlightened on the characteristics of diamonds and gems so you know what really adds the sparkle and value.

As Bill explains, “it’s the only industry built on the emotion of love. That’s the jewelry business. We get to celebrate and be a part of the special occasions and moments of people’s lives. What could be better than that?”
